Marzitelli March 18, 1957 COMMISSIONS' DATF AR / lIIIII�ii-J� WHEREAS, The Commissioner o ►blic Works has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the Cit Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from March 1, 1957 to March 15, 1957 which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: r Emergency street, building, sewer and bridg e repair h v �a°° ' : Dispatching men for emergency repair work z '�`ir , 3 Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work ... . Operating equipment on emergency repair work App � ,1 . Emergency calls for sewer maintenance Removing snow from city streets and sanding icy streets Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on Sunday and holidays Emergency garbage pickup Taking care of complaints at city yards Drawing plans & specifications for grading and paving jobd::. Mimeographing grade profiles and revising house numbers Servicing municipal equipment Making up sidewalk assessments Inspecting city improvement jobs Overseeing inmates at workhouse farm Completing payroll work AND WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping city streets free from snow and ice, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously, picking up garbage, taking complaints at city yards, completing plan. and specifications for grading and paving jobs, need for grade profiles and house numbers, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping city equip- ment in good running condition, inspecting work done by contractors on street and sidewalk work, overseeing inmates at workhouse farm, and completing payroll work. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Counoil;'-s salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
