This is an emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. (Employees working under this title may be required o to work split shifts or to work odd hours. ) Examples of work performed: To receive instruction and training in how properly-- To investigate various problems involved in the prevention and/or elim- ination of smoke and related nuisances. To investigate complaints of smoke and gas nuisances. To investigate violations of fuel ordinances. To check bus schedules, loading and services. To assist in gathering evidence necessary for the prosecution of violators of ordinances concerned. To keep records and make written reports of investigations. Examples of work performed: To investigate or supervise the investigation of various problems involved in the prevention and/or elimination of smoke and related nuisances and make proper reports and recommendations. To investigate or supervise the investigation and adjustment of all complaints on smoke and related nuisances, on the violation of fuel ordinances, and on bus service and operation. To approve the issuance of licenses to fuel dealers and the weighing and measurement of fuels sold or delivered. To coordinate the efforts of the. City with those of private parties working for the prevention and/or the elimination of various nuisances. • To swear out complaints, serve notices, and to assist in prosecu- tions wherever necessary. To confer and work with the Traffic Engineer, the City Planner and the Superintendent of Traffic with regard to bus routing and stops, elimination of parking and other problems involving traffic impediments to free-moving and efficient mass trans- portation. To supervise and instruct junior investigators.
