RESOLVED, That the Purchasing Agent be, and he is hereby authorized
with the consent of the Comptroller, to purchase from HERSEY METER
MANUFACTURING COMPANY, without advertisement or competitive bids,
approximately 5 + 3", i • 4" 2 . 6" Compound Meters, 1 w 3", 2 . 4",
3 • 6", and 2 • 8" Detector Check Meters, over a period of one year,
as the Water Department believes (and after thorough investigation, the
Purchasing Committee concurs) that this firm's meters have distinct
advantages as to operation, repair and maintenance over other cerpeund
meters, namely, bronze casing, bypass can be valved off and replaced
without removing entire meter; has best compounding valve made; and
bypass meter is designed to operate any large meter is in use. These
are patented articles and no advantage could be gained by competitive bids.
