WHEREAS, he Commissioner o rblic Works has reported, in accordance with
Section 53 of the Ci, - ter, the existence of an emergency during
the period from Feb 6 1, 1957 to February 15, 1957 which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of
Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week
in doing the following work:

Emergency calls for sewer maintenance ,l '`
Removing snow from city streets and sanding icy street s
Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on Sunday & holidays
Emergency garbage pickup
Taking care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans & specifications for grading & paving jobs
Mimeographing grade profiles & revising house numbers
Servicing municipal equipment
Making up sidewalk assessments
Inspecting city improvement jobs
Overseeing inmates atworkhouse farm
Completing payroll work.
AND WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping city streets
free from snow & ice, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously,
pinking up garbage, taking complaints at city yards, completing plans &
specifications for grading & paving jobs, need for grade profiles and
house numbers, completing sidewalk assessments, and keeping city equipment
in good running condition, inspecting work done by contractors on street
and sidewalk work, overseeing inmates at workhouse farm, and completing
payroll work.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby authorized
to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the
provisions of the Council 's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6$46.
