FILE ICE OF THE CITY CLERK Council rile No. lei442— 7 COU RESOLUTION—GENERAL FORM pt : The cow*"4 PRESENTED BY a veRV- of a - �prices of ie►COMMISSIONS DATP where lis the • ,; WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul has recently been made aware of the increase in the retail prices of gasoline in this City and elsewhere in the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the said Council has been advised that such increase in gasoline prices is no part of any concerted move by gasoline retailers to secure a higher price, but is a move forced upon such retailers by the higher wholesale price of gasoline charged such retailers by the wholesale vendors of gasoline; and WHEREAS, the Council of this City and all of the citizens of said City have been afforded no logical or rational reason or explanation for such increase other than the a ianation made by the national oil companies that the cost of supply to such companies has increased, and that said explanation so offered has not been supported in any manner by fact; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, on behalf of all the citizens of this City, that it does hereby respectfully desire to call the attention of the Honorable Orville Freeman, Governor of the State of Minnesota, to this gasoline price increase situation now existing in this City and State, and does respectfully request the Governor of Minnesota to call upon the representatives of the State of Minnesota in the national Congress to petition for an investigation in the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States to inquire into the facts surrounding the advance in gasoline retail prices made necessary by the advance in wholesale gasoline prices charged by the distributors to the retailers in this State. • FEB 8 19 7 COUNCILMEN Adopted by the Council 195_ Yeas Nays � DeCourcy FEB e &3 Approved 195- Marzitelli . / Mortinson Tn Favor `tt/L.a.
