WHEREAS, Alfred H. Schroeder, City Architect, having requested
the City Council to hold a public hearing to consider any com-
plaints about the expense incurred by the City of Saint Paul in
removing a dangerous structure at 264 West Cottage Avenue, more
particularly described as Lots 1 and 2, Block 6, Rice Street
Villas Subdivision of Lots 8, 10, 12, 13 and the East 275 feet
of Lot 11, Walcottts Addition to Cottage Homes, the City Council
held a public hearing on the 21st day of February 1957 to con-
sider the expense and to confirm the amount thereof, and
WHEREAS, it appears that the City Council, pursuant to
Council File No. 169213, approved July 8, 1954, published July
10, 1954, set a public hearing to consider removing the dangerous
structure, and the City Council by Council File No. 170445,
approved October 6, 1954, published October 9, 1954, ordered
the wrecking by and at the separate cost and expense of the
owner, occupant, or other person in control thereof, and the
City Council by Council File No. 179452, approved September 4, 1956,
published September 8, 1956, directed the Commissioner of Parks,
Playgrounds and Public Buildings to enter upon the premises and
wreck and remove the building thereon and do any and all things
therein necessary for the protection of life, limb and adjoining
property, and that the City of Saint Paul has incurred the expense
of $ 116.44 in removing said structure; and
WHEREAS, it appears that said premises are owned by Nathaniel
Johnson, 282 Grove Street, St, Paul, Aletha M, Habberstad, 23 W,
Acker Street, St. Paul, Lillian R. Kilbane, 1430 Rice Street,
St. Paul, copy of the proceedings having been sent to Mr. Lawrence
Hazen, Minnesota Building, St. Paul; be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul '
does hereby confirm the amount of $116.44 to be the fair, true and
reasonable amount for such services incurred in removing the
dangerous structure; and be it

Dear Sir:
Please file a statement of expense in the office of the
Register of Deeds for the purpose of creating a lien on
the property known as 264 West Cottage Avenue , described
as Lots 1 and 2, Block 6, Rice Street Villas Subdivision
of Lots 8, 10, 12, 13 and the East 275 feet of Lot 11,
Walcott's Addition to Cottage Homes. The property was
listed in the names of
Nathaniel Johnson, 282 Grove •St. , St. Paul 1
Aletha M. Habberstad, 23 W. Acker St. , St. Paul 3
Lillian R. Kilbane , 1430 Rice St. , St. Paul 3
and a copy of the proceedings was mailed to Lawrence Ha-

The following expense was incurred by virtue of the wreck-
ing and removal of the dangerous building , as per itemiz-

the property in accordance with Section 107.7 of the Build-

in Council File No. 181689, passed by the Council of the City of Saint Paul on
February 27, 1957, a copy of which is attached and made a part hereof.
This statement is herewith being filed in the office of the Register
of Deeds for the County of Ramsey, pursuant to Ordinance No. 7210 of the City
of Saint Paul, as amended, Section 107, for the purpose of registering a lien
in favor of the said City of Saint Paul on the land described herein.
