This is in the matter of the application of the Standard Oil Company
for a permit to remodel an existing filling station adjacent to the
southeast corner of White Bear and Maryland. The property is described
as the east 147.22' of the W. 180.22' of the south 182.88' of the north
215.88' of the NW of the NWT or Sec. 26, Township 29, Range 22.
The zoning is "commercial" and "A" residence. The property is presently
occupied by a filling station with a vacant lot th the east along Mary-
land. The applicants propose to expand the filling station operation
by constructing another driveway on Maryland to the est of the existing
driveway and a pump island on NIaryLand.
Field investigation discloses no objection to this use in that the
filling station operation is confined to the westerly 100' of the
applicant's property which is the portion zoned "commercial."
There is no objection to this added driveway and pump island from the
standpoint of the Traffic Engineer's office.
The applicant's plans call for the maintenance of the easterly 47' of
this property which is zoned "A" residence as a buffer space to separate
the filling station operation from the adjacent residence to the east.
In consideration of these factors, the Zoning Board recommends that
this permit be granted in accordance with the applicant's plans approved
June 20, 1957.

In regard to the application of the Standard Oil Company
to make several changes at their filling station located at

The changes they desire to make are the repiping of their
present 4 — 2,000 gallon gasoline tanks and construction of one
new concrete approach on Maryland Avenue; also, construction of
one new island on the Maryland Avenue side.
We have investigated the foregoing and report that the
changes would not create any additional fire hazard.
