"An ordinance relating to the reimbursement
of officers and employees of the City of Saint
Paul for the use of privately owned automobiles
in the performance of their duties. This is an
emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the
preservation of the public peace, health and
safety."

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITYOF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section. 1. That Ordinance No. 9746, approved June 29, 1951,
as amended, is hereby further amended by striking therefrom Section 2
in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"Section 2. That the Mayor and the City Council .
shall appoint a Car Allowance Committee composed of a
representative of each of the Departments of Finance;
Libraries, Auditorium, Museums and Stadia; Parks,
41-- Playgrounds and Public Buildings; Public Safety; Public
Uti liti • Public Works; Board of Fducation; and the
01 o ice of the City Comptroller and the office of the
Corporation Counsel, for the purpose of passing upon
the eligibility of employees recommended by depart-
ment heads to receive a basic car mileage allowance,
and for the further purpose of passing upon and
recommending to the City Council any future changes or
amendments to the rules concerning car allowances,
to the end that the rules and the check controls for
car mileage allowance shall be complied with. "
Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an
emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of the
public peace, health, and safety.
: IT Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
