WHEREAS, In connection with the contract for the repair and
redecking of the State Street Bridge, Comptroller's Contract L-5845,
Fielding and Shepley, Contractors, it appears that certain additional
structural steel and other work is required due to conditions disclosed
by dismantling the old bridge deck, as now enumerated.
ADDITIONS:
Cleaning of rust and scale from portions of eye-bars
that are covered and inaccessible to such repair except
when floor and curbs are removed $598.29
Providing and placing angles, plates, braces, pins and
stringers that were badly rusted:2396 lbs.@$1.00 per lb. 2396.00
Repairing 125 ft. of railing including replacement of
some panels and providing and placing nine new
rail-posts 1126.61
Furnishing and installing Cast Iron Pipe Downspouts
to carry drainage away from tracks and telegraph wires- 504.56
Painting extra steel 210 sq.ft. @ $.30 63.00
Concrete 2.4 cu.yds.@ $50.00 120.00
Replacement of bolts that were too short 77.80

WHEREAS, the total Net Addition is $4,566.26; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the City of St. Paul, through its City Council,
approves the foregoing addition made in accordance with the specifications
in the sum of $41566.26, said sum to be added to the lump sum consideration
named in the nontract known as Comptroller's Contract L-5845.
The Commissioner of Public Works has agreed with the contractor that the
amount of $4,566.26 is the correct amount to be added to the above contract,
and said amount shall be paid to the said contractor upon the execution by
said contractor of releases to the City of St.Paul for all and every claim
or claims of said contractor arising from the carrying out of the above
improvement.
