Adopted by the Council May 21, 1957. Approved May 21, 1957. (May 25, 1957) WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from _iay 1 to 15, 1957, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and play- -rounds and of their facilities. .nd ili 131,14,,5, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances; Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities, such as: Spring cleanup in parks and playgrounds had to be rushed because of the weather; Zoo and Greenhouse must be heated seven days a week; municipal golf courses and parks refectories, playground ball fields and other sports facilities patronized heavily on week ends and required emergency repairs to equipment. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 611)!6.
