RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, in behalf of
said. City of Saint Paul and its people, that official cognizance be and hereby
is taken and recorded of the great and significant honor bestowed upon
Ardyce Ruth Gustafson, a resident of said City, on the 12th day of May, 1957,
by Minnesota Junior Chamber of Commerce, representative of the title, "Miss
Minnesota," as evidence of her selection as conferee of said title in competi-
tion with other worthy candidates therefor and which, among other things, has
resulted in her designation as the contestant representative of the State of
Minnesota for the title of "Miss America," in the next ensuing Miss America
Contest to be held during the current year at Atlantic City, New Jersey;
RESOLVED FURTHER, by said Council, that official attestation be
and hereby is recorded. of the fact of her prior selection, in the City of
Saint Paul Contest therefor, within the current year, as "Miss St. Paul,"
and of her extraordinarly high moral, educational, and artistic qualities,
meritorious attainments, and surpassing charm, maidenly demeanor, and
social grace which merited and secured for her such high honors and offices;
RESOLVED FURTHER, that said Council, in behalf of said City of
Saint Paul and its people, hereby extends sincere commendations and congratula-
tions to said Ardyce Ruth Gustafson upon her aforesaid high attainments
and deserved success in said competitions and expresses best wishes for her
further success in said Miss America Contest;
RESOLVED FURTHER, by said Council, that the support of said City
of Saint Paul and of its people hereby is pledged to said Ardyce Ruth
Gustafson in said Miss America Contest and that the City Clerk be and hereby
is authorized and directed to cause an engrossed copy of this resolution to
be prepared and to be delivered. to said Ardyce Ruth Gustafson with all
convenient speed.
