WHEREA the Acrive L� g-Remsey County Iniriative has undertaken a"1,000 Benches" program to facilitate active
living in Ramsey Co an omponent of the project is the installation of "bench corridors", wluch will support walking as
a form of transportation; and
WHEREAS, Friends of Lilydale Regional Park has submitted an application for a bench corridor at Lilydale Regional
Pazk and it was approved by the Saint Paul Pazks and Recreation Commission on July 15, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the Lilydale Regional Pazk project consists of ten benches, to be installed along the route through the
brickyazd azea along the west bluff of the Mississippi River, all locarions on public pazk land owned by Saint Paul Parks and
Recrearion;and
WHEREAS, two additional benches will be located at Dunedin High Rise, 469 Ada Sffeet; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of the benches and plaques will be funded by Saint Paul - Ramsey County Environmental
Health, who will donate the benches and plaques to the City; and through a Star Crrant obtained by Friends of Lilydale Regional
Pazk; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Parks and Recrearion will install the bench pads, benches and plaques; and
WHEREAS, the installation of the benches serves a public purpose in promoting exercise and altemative transportation
methods; and
NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the donation of the benches and plaques and
thanks Saint Paul - Ramsey County Public Health for their generosity.

Saint Paul has the opporiunity to receive a donarion of 12 park benches to install at Lilydale Regional Park and Dunedin High Rise.
Advantages If Approved:
Saint Paul will have 10 pazk benches installed at Lilydale Regional Pazk and two benches installed at Dunedin High Rise. The
installation of the benches serves a public purpose in promoting exercise and altemative transportation methods.
