OF S�T PAUL, MINNESOTA 35
Presented by
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is a cultural center in the region — home to artists and art aficionados of
all kinds; and
4 WHEREAS, the Minnesota Fringe Festival is an annual eleven-day festival of unleashed performance; and
6 WHEREAS, since 1993, Minnesota Fringe has brought thousands of artists to metro-azea stages in shows
7 ranging from shows created by teens to shows exploring radical politics, from classics to the avant-garde;
8 and
10 WHEREAS, in 2009, 162 productions will present 847 performances at 22 venues and bring artists from
11 across the state (Moorhead, Duluth and Lanesboro), across the country (Hollywood, New Orleans, Detroit
12 and New York), and across the world (Canada, Britain); and
13
14 WHEREAS, the Minnesota Fringe Festival is one more reason that Minneapolis-St. Paul is a nationally
15 known hotbed for the performing arts; and

17 WHEREAS, the Minnesota Fringe Festival is spanning the Mississippi for the first time in 2009 with
18 venues in both Minneapolis and Saint Paul, with the first Saint Paul Fringe Theatre being Gremlin Theatre
19 at 2400 University Avenue West; now therefore

21 BE IT RESOLVED that July 30, 2009, is hereby declared Minnesota Fringe Festival day in the City of
22 Saint Paul.
