An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, entitleIno'7r t '.'fending
"An ordinance fixing the duties and responsi-
bilities and the minimum qualifications for the various
classes of positions in the Classified Service of the City,"
approved February 13, 1935, as amended. This is an emergency ordinance
rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace,
health and safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13,
1935, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by inserting
in its proper alphabetical order the following specifications for:
"Junior Administrative Assistant--Public Works Department".

JUNIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT--
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to assist the Chief Engineer in the implementation
of departmental policies; to coordinate the line and staff functions
of the department; and to perform related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To coordinate the activities of all bureaus and divisions of the Public
Works Department within the general policy and program determined
by the Commissioner.
To plan, install and maintain procedures to assure proper and prompt
disposal of all departmental matters.
To be responsible for the clerical work of the department.
To be in charge of staff accessions, transfers and separations.
To prepare and to conduct training programs.
To conduct investigations regarding the operation of the department,
and to report thereon.
To supervise the preparation of non-technical specifications, and the
requisitioning of material, equipment and supplies.
To be responsible for the physical arrangements and the facilities of
various offices of the department.
Minimum qualifications:
College graduation and one year's professional experience in
administrative work. (No substitution for education. )
