Whereas, The Commissioner of Parks,
Playgrounds and Public Buildings has
recommended the leasing of the fol-
WHEREAS, The •ommissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public
Buil dings has recommend-d the leasing of the following privileges at Como
Park to Fred H. Newell, I nc. , namely, the rental of bicycles, the rental of
rowboats, the rental of wa'er bicycles, the operations of the Lake Como Pavilion
refreshment stand, and thi. privilege of storage space in the pavilion building,
for the park seasons of 19 8 to 1960, both inclusive, the said Fred H. N _well, Inc. ,
to pay for such privileges the sum. of $2, 000. 00 for each park season, in install-
ments of $400. 00 per mont , beginning May 1 of each park season, and to
provide a public liability pslicy for injury to persons in an amount not less
than $5, 000. 00 for one ac ident, subject to the following conditions:
That no employee •f the said Fred H. Newell, Inc. , shall be required
or permitted to work longe than forty-eight hours in an ; one week, except
that additional hours may be worked if overtime is paid therefor at the hourly
rate for such employment, and the wages to be paid any such employees shall
be the same as paid to reg lar City employees doing the same or similar work; and
if there is no wage scale s:t for that type of work by the CLty, then the wage shall
be not less than the rate provided for a refectory sales clerk employed by the
City of Saint Paul; therefo e, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council concurs in the recommendations of the
Commissioner of Parks, P aygrounds and Public Buildings, and the Corporation
Counsel is hereby authoriz d and directed to draw the proper lease therefor and the
proper City officers are he, eby authorized and directed to execute the same on
behalf of the City of Saint 'aul.
