COMMISSIONER -- DATE
RESOLVED, that Board of Christian Services, on behalf
of Bethesda Hospital, be permitted to install and operate
a visitors' parking lot at the northwest corner of Charles
Avenue and Cedar Street, subject to compliance with the
provisions of all ordinances governing the operation of
parking lots, and in accordance with revised plans dated
June 26, 1957; and subject to the further condition that
sidewalks abutting said premises be kept clean and free of
ice and snow at all times.

Dear Sir:
This is in the matter of the application of the Board of Christian
Services on behalf of Bethesda Hospital for permit to install and
operate a parking lot for visitors on the property adjacent to the
NW corner of Charles Ave. r Cedar St. The property is described as
Lot 6, Block 2, Dawson & Smith's Addition. The zoning is "C" Residence.
Applicant owns the entire frontage of 273 ft. on the north side of
Charles between Cedar St. and Capitol Ave. except for a forty ft. lot
located approximately in the center of the block, and developed with a
single family home. Pursuant to a previous council permit applicant
has developed the west 110 ft. of this block with a customer parking
lot. This application applies to the remainder of the frontage in
this block on Charles Avenue. The site under consideration has a
frontage of 50 ft. on Cedar St. and extends westerly 123.53 ft. along
Charles Ave. A residence on the site will be moved.
The proposed parking area has acapacity for 11 cars and the entrance
and exit from the same driveway on Charles Ave. The plans for this
facility comply with existing standards and have been approved by the
Traffic Engineer.
Applicant's plans call for adequate screening to protect the adjoining
residential properties on the north and west. Field investigation
discloses no objection from the standpoint of adjacent land use or traffic.
In consideration of these factors the Zoning Board recommends that this
permit be granted in accordance with plans revised June.26, 1957
