On March 21, 1958, Almighty God summoned from this life
Herbert S. West, Assistant Chief Engineer of the Public Works
Department of the City of Saint Paul.
Herbert S. West graduated from the University of Minne-
sota with a degree in Civil Engineering and has continuously
been in the employ of the people of the City of Saint Paul
since August 28, 1923. He was a great public servant and in
1955 was honored by the Public Works Association with the Samuel
A. Greely Award. He was a former President of the Local Society
of Professional Engineers and a member of Tau Beta Pi and Theta
Tau Societies. He was a member of St. Mary' s Episcopal Church
and the Masonic Order. The people of Saint Paul have lost an
able public official ; his family has lost a loving husband and
father; we have lost a trusted friend and associate, whose adviQe
and encouragement were so much appreciated by each one of us per-
sonally. He is survived by his wife Myrtle ; his daughter, Mrs.
Bartley Foster of Saint Paul and a brother, Kenneth West of
Couer de lain, Idaho, and also three grandsons .
RESOLVED, that we, the members of the City Council of the
City of Saint Paul, extend to the members of the bereaved
family our deep and heartfelt sympathy in this the hour of their
bereavement ; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that in token of our deepest sympathy
this resolution be spread on the official minutes of the
Council of the City of Saint Paul, and that an engrossed copy
thereof be sent to the family of the deceased.
