Karel and Anthony J. LaNasa ,were injured while engaged in the performance of their duties for the Department of Public Safety of the City of Saint Paul ; and WHEREAS, because of said injury, the City has incurred medical expenses in the amount of $75.00 for George J. Karel, and said employe, by reason of said injury, was disabled for work for a period of time, being paid the amount of $537.60 therefor, and that said employe has paid an additional amount in medical expenses to Dr. Donovan L. McCain, the sum of $40.00, for which he should be reimbursed; and WHEREAS, because of said injury, the City has incurred medical expenses in the amount of $175.50 for Anthony J. LaNasa , which it has paid, and an additional amount of $343.00 owing to Dr. Donovan L. McCain, Dr. 2. R. Miller, and Dr. Wm. F. Hynan, which will be paid by the City; and said employe, by reason of said injury, was disabled for work for a period of time, being paid the amount of $1,465.70 therefor; and WHEREAS, a settlement has been negotiated by the parties whereby the employe George J. Karel will receive the sum of $3,000, including the amount to which the City would be subrogated, and Anthony J. Karel and the action of Anthony J. LaNasa against the third party involved in the above described accident, Now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That out of the settlement awarded George J. Karel, the proper City officers are hereby authorized to accept from Douglass, Sheets & Bell, attorneys for said employe, in full settlement of its subrogation interest in connection with the personal injury of said employe, the amount of $357.39, representing 75 per cent of the City's expenditures of $652.60, or $489.45, less 25 per cent attorney's fees of $122.36, or $367.09, less one-half of the costs incurred in his action, or $9.70; and be it further RESOLVED, That out of the settlement awarded Anthony J. LaNasa, the proper City officers are hereby authorized to accept from Douglass, Sheets & Bell, attorneys for said employe, in full settlement of its subrogation interest in connection with the personal injury of said employe, the amount of $1,099.36, representing 75 per cent of the City's expendituresfor salary and medical bills paid on behalf of said employe of $1,984.20, or $1,488.15, less 25 per attorney's fees of $372.04, or $1,116.11, less one-half of the costs incurred in his action against the third party involved in said accident, or $16.75; and be it further RESOLVED, That the proper City officers are authorized to reimburse George J. Karel in the amount of $40.00 for a medical bill he paid to Dr. Donovan L. McCain for services in connection with his injury in said accident, and to pay to Dr. McCain, Dr. Z. R. Miller and Dr. Wm. F. Hynan the amounts due them, totaling $343.00, for services rendered to Anthony J.
