Dear Sir:
This is in the matter of the petition of the Housing and Redevelopment
Authority to rezone a portion of the Western Redevelopment Area. The
property under consideration is within the area bounded by University
Avenue on the north; Rice Street on the east; Western Avenue on the west;
and Rondo Street on the south. The exact legal descriptions and physical
lilpits of the property are described in the petition and map which are
enclosed with this report. There are 157 descriptions within 100 feet of
this property of which 105 or 66.8% have signed this petition.
This petition proposes to rezone from "B" Residence, "C" Residence,
Commercial, and Light Industry to "C" Residence and Commercial certain
property in the Western Redevelopment Area for the purpose of carrying
out the Redevelopment plan first approved by the City Council in March,
1957.
The total area in the Western Redevelopment Plan comprises approximately
75 acres. The following is a list of the proposed land uses: 23.2 acres
for streets-alley (including the Rondo Freeway); 24.5 acres for Commercial
uses; 11.3 acres for Park-School uses; and 16.0 acres for residential uses.
This petition, if granted, would reclassify to "C" Residence and Commercial
approximately 39.3'; of the 75 acres in order to carry out the above plan.
Furthermore, the Planning Board on February 13, 1957, officially approved
the proposed redevelopment plan for the Western Redevelopment area after
finding that the proposed land uses are in accordance with the best in-
terests of the community as a whole, and further finding that the proposed
land uses will comply with the yard area, off-street parking and height
requirements of the existing laws.
The Board of Zoning, therfore, recommends that this petition be granted.
The proposed redevelopment plan is in accordance with the "Proposed Land
Use and Circulation Plan" for the Central area which was revised in
March 1957 and approved by the Planning Board on April 12, 1957

Dear Sir:
This is in the matter of the petition of the Housing and Redevelopment
Authority to rezone a portion of the Western Redevelopment Area. The
property under consideration is within the area bounded by University
Avenue on the north; Rice Street on the east; Western Avenue on the west;
and Rondo Street on the south. The exact legal descriptions and physical
Limits of the property are described in the petition and map which are
enclosed with this report. There are 157 descriptions within 100 feet of
this property of which 105 or 66.8% have signed this petition.
This petition proposes to rezone from "B" Residence, "C" Residence,
Commercial, and Light Industry to "C" Residence and Commercial certain
property in the Western Redevelopment Area for the purpose of carrying
out the Redevelopment plan first approved by the City Council in March,
1957.
The total area in the Western Redevelopment Plan comprises approximately
75 acres. The following is a list of the proposed land uses: 23.2 acres
for streets-alley (including the Rondo Freeway); 24.5 acres for Commercial
uses; 11.3 acres for Park-School uses; and 16.0 acres for residential uses.
This petition, if granted, would reclassify to "C" Residence and Commercial
approximately 39.3-i of the 75 acres in order to carry out the above plan.
Furthermore, the Planning Board on February 13, 1957, officially approved
the proposed redevelopment plan for the Western Redevelopment area after
finding that the proposed land uses are in accordance with the best in-
terests of the community as a whole, and further finding that the proposed
land uses will comply with the yard area, off-street parking and height
requirements of the existing laws.
The Board of Zoning, therfore, recommends that this petition be granted.
The proposed redevelopment plan is in accordance with the "Proposed Land
Use and Circulation Plan" for the Central area which was revised in
March 1957 and approved by the Planning Board on April 12, 1957
