RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, that
said Council, in its own behalf and in behalf of the citizenry of
said City, hereby takes and records official cognizance thereof,
in permanent attestation, of the long and consistently meritorious
and effective public service career of James F. Sullivan as City
Prosecuting Attorney and Assistant Corporation Counsel of said City,
which culminated, upon his voluntary resignation and retirement
therefrom, on the 1st day of March, A. D. 1957, and wherein he
uniformly manifested exceptionally high professional calibre,
learnng, skill, and aptitude and merited and obtained the commenda-
tion and esteem of the Bench and Bar of Minnesota;
RESOLu=D FURTHER, that said Council hereby takes and
records official cognizance of the career and meritorious service
of said James F. Sullivan in civic and charitable fields wherein
as a member of the Military Forces of the United States of Anerica in
World War I, as a member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus,
and as a member of the Minnesota and Ramsey County Bar Associations,
he consistently and effectively strove for social improvements,
furtherance of justice, preservation of our constitutional form of
government, and promotion of public welfare;
RESOLVED FURTHER, that said Council, in its own behalf,
and in behalf of said City and its citizenry, hereby expresses its
high appreciation and commendation of the aforesaid valued and
effective public service of said James F. Sullivan and directs
the City Clerk to provide therefor and deliver an engrossed copy
of this resolution to him with all convenient speed..
