An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, entitled:
"An ordinance fixing the duties and responsi-
bilities and the minimum qualifications for the various
classes of positions in the Classified Service of the City, "
approved February 13, 1935, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1, That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13,
1935, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by
inserting in their proper alphabetical order the following specifications
for:

Duties and responsibilities:
Under direction, to act as secretary to one of the City's six
Commissioners, the Mayor, the Comptroller, or the Super-
intendent of Schools; and to perform related work as assigned.

Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to assist the head of an executive department
or bureau who is responsible for one of the major functions of
the City Government, by handling routine office matters inde-
pendently, by performing important stenographic work of a
technical nature, or by compiling information; and to perform
related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To relieve the executive of routine administrative details.
To answer routine correspondence independently.
To make appointments and interview callers.
To take and transcribe dictation involving legal, scientific, or
other specialized matter.
To compile and summarize information, to brief reports, or keep
records and maintain files, and to report departmental hearings.
Minimum qualifications:
High school graduation and seven years' clerical experience, three
years of which must have been in a grade equivalent to that of
Senior Clerk Stenographer.
