the direction and to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of
Public Safety, and subject to the condition that sidewalks
abutting said premises be kept clean and free of ice and snow
at all times. Whenever the Council may determine that said

This is in the matter of the application of William Gentile for a permit to
install ana operate a filling station adjacent to the southwest corner of
Hoyt ana White Bear Ave. The property is described as Lots 1,z, tc 3, Block
I, J. A. Humphrey's Suoaivision
The Council rezoned this property in 1955 to Commercial for a neighborhood
shopping center. The property is presently vacant and has a frontage of
120 ft. on Hoyt Ave. and 124 Ft. on White Bear Ave.
The adjacent land uses are as follows: single family homes are to the west
on Hoyt and one single family home fronting White Bear is across Hoyt to the
north, Applebaum's Supermarket is across White Bear to the east, a Dairy
Queen is across an alley to the south.
Field investigation discloses no objection from the standpoint of adjacent
land use or traffic. The Traffic Engineer has approved the proposed layout and
operation. The plans meet existing standards and call for a 10 ft. buffer
area along the west property line to protect and screen the property owners
to the west.
In consideration of these factors, the Zoning Board recommends that this'
permit be granted in accordance with the applicant's plans approved Oct. 3,
1957.

Dear Sir:
In regard to the application of William Gentile for permission to
install and operate a gasoline filling station at 1557 White Bear Ave.
He wishes to install 2 islands, 4 pumps, 4 gasoline tanks -
2-3,000 and 2-2,000 gallons each, making a total capacity of 10,000
gallons.
We have investigated the foregoing and report that such an
installation at the desired location would not greatly increase
the fire hazard in that vicinity.
