WHEREAS, The Commis Toner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public
Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53
of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during
the period from October 16 to 31, 1957, which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the
Department of parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings
for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per
week in doing the following work;
Supervis ion, operation, maintenance, care
and protection of public parks and play-
grounds and of their facilities.
And 'AREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following
facts and circumstances;
Seasonal requirements for protection of public
property and pursuit of departmental activities,
such as; Municipal golf, athletics and sports;
the Zoo, reenhouse and parks refectories; all
of which ave heavier patronage on weekends.
THEREFORE, BE IT R'•OLVED, That the proper city officers are
hereby author•'ed to pay the employees who performed
such work in - cordance with the provisions of the
Council's salar r ordinance, Ordinance No. 61446.
