WHEREAS, the Dep nt of Public Wor as entered into aa agreement wi[h the Minnesota Depanment of Transportation for the
cous�ucdon of a new traf ' al s� at the intersecflon of Shepazd Road & SB T.H. 35E, and
WHEREAS, this signal project will be consiructed under the 2008 Signal Installaflons progam, and
WHEREAS, the cost shaze ageement is for 548,905, with the remainder of the project being funded with Municipal State Aid, so
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saiut Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor and advice of the Long
Range Capital Improvement Budget Committee, that $48,905 is available for appropriation in Ihe 2008 Capital Improvement Budget, as
heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby furcher amended in the Improvement Budgets, in the following particulazs:

The Department of Public Works has entered 'mto a wst share agreement with MnDOT for the construction of a new traffic signal
system at the intersecrions of Shepazd Road and S.B. TH35E. T7�is project will be constructed under d�e 2008 Signal Installation
program.

The cost share agreement funding from MnDOT will be included in the 2008 Signal Instailations Program budget to be used to fmance
this traffic signal projea.

Attached is a budget resolution from Public Works seeking approval to amend the
spending and financing plan of the 2008 Signal Installation Program by accepting
$161,344 from MNDOT. Public Works has entered into a cost sharing agreement with
MNAOT far the construction of new traffic signal systems at two intersections. This
resolution reflects the additional financing brought in through this cost sharing
agreement. OK to sign.
Follow-up:
The funding from MNDOT on this resolution was reduced by $112,439, which was to
cover the Robert Street and Cesar Chavez Street intersection. MNDOT requested that
that project be put on hold for the time being. The resolution still includes $48,905 in
revenue from MNDOT for the Shepard Road and 35E intersection. In response to your
question about whether or not Public Warks would complete this project without the
NINDOT funding, Public Works indicated that this is a high priority project that would
need to be completed at some point in the near future. Since it is a State road, Public
Works pursued the cost sharing agreement with MNDOT. It does not mean, however,
that Public Works can reduce their 2008 Signal Installation pzogram budget by a like
amount, because they have several other high priority proj ects in the works.
