WHEREAS, Tom Con]on has been a long-time Saint Paul resident of the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood;
and
WIIEREAS, Mr. Conlon attended Groveland Pazk Elementary, Sheridan Elementary, and Harding High School
and graduated from Highland Pazk Sr. High School in 1978; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Conlon eamed a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and political science in 1984 and a
master in public administration in 1986 from the UniversiTy of North Carolina-Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Conlon has worked for companies (both private and non-profit) based in St. Paul, and other
Minnesota and U.S. cities in the areas of policy and community development, marketing and sales, public
relations, human resources, and education; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Conlon has graciously contributed hours of service and commitment to the youth of our
community by serving for eighteen years as a school board member on the St. Paul School Board; as ex-o�cio
board member of the Minnesota School Boards Association, Minnesota State High School League
Representative Assembly, St. Paul College General Advisory Committee, and the St. Paul Charter Commission;
as a volunteer for the Gertnanic American Institute; as founder and president of the Highland Park Sr. High
School Alumni & Friends Association; and chapter president for the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Conlon will be resigning from his school board seat on July 6, 2009, to pursue his interest in
managing a hospitality business in Asheville, North Cazolina; and
NOW, TFIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL
that Mr. Tom Conlon is recognized for his contributions to the Saint Paul community.
