WHEREAS, Alfred H. Schroeder, City Architect, has
requested the City Council to hold a public hearing to consider
any complaints about the expense incurred by the City of Saint
Baul in removing a dangerous structure at 774 Park Avenue, more
particularly described as Lot 3, Block 1, Jilson's Subdivision of
Lots 3, 49 % h, 7, 81 9 and 10, Guerin's Outlots, St. Paul,
Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the last known record owners
of the property are James Maher, 4372 North Haml.ine Avenue,
Saint Paul 13, and C. G. Rein, 105 Pioneer Building, St. Paul 1;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint
Paul held a public hearing in the Council Chamber at 10 o'clock
a. m. on the 10th day of January, 1958, to consider any complaints
about the expense incurred by the City of Saint Paul and to confirm
the amount thereof; be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Architect notify by
mail the record owners of the property in c_uestion at the last known
addresses.

Dear Council Members:
A statement of expense has been filed with the City Clerk on
this date for the purpose of creating a lien on the proper-
ty known as 774 Park Avenue, described as Lot 3, Block 1,
Jilson's Subdivision of Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10,
Guerin's Outlots, St. Paul, Minnesota. The property is own-
ed by James Maher, 4372 North Hamline Avenue, St. Paul 13,
and C. G. Rein, 105 Pioneer Building, St. Paul 1, and a copy
of the proceedings was sent to A. H. Markert, Attorney, 900
Minnesota Building, St. Paul 1.
In this matter, the following resolutions were adopted by
the City Council:
C.F. 182389, adopted by the Council April 18, 1957, published
April 20, 1957, set a public hearing at 10 A. P,;. on May 14,
1957.
C.F. 182967, adopted by the Council May 22, 1957, published
May 25, 1957, ordered the wrecking by and at the separate
cost and expense of the owner, occupant, or other person in
control thereof.
C.F. 183302, adopted by the Council June 12, 1957, published
June 15, 1957, directed the Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds
And Public Buildings to enter the premises and wreck and re-
move the dangerous structure and do all things therein neces-
sary for the protection of life, limb, and adjoining property.
C.F. 183877, adopted by the Council July 24, 1957, published
July 27, 1957, approved the specifications prepared by the
City Architect for the wrecking of this structure, and author-
ized the Purchasing Agent to advertise for bids.

C.F. 184272, adopted by the Council August 22, 1957, publish-
ed August 24, 1957, approved the award of the contract for
wrecking to Truck Crane Service Company for the sum of $645.00
in accordance with specifications and Formal Bid No. 6581.
C.F. 185125, adopted by the Council Novem ber 12, 1957 and
published November 16, 1957, provided that the wrecking ex-
pense of $645.00 and the expenses of the Department of Parks,
Playgrounds And Public Buildings in connection with the
condemnation in the amount of $62.74, making a total of
$707.74, be paid out of Wrecking Condemned Buildings, 31 G 23,
and, in the event said sum proves collectible from the owner,
same is to be credited to 31 G 23.
This structure has been satisfactorily wrecked and a Regis-
tered Bill (No. 4 -1596) mailed to the owners.
Ile are requesting that a public hearing, with ten days notice,
be held to consider any complaints about the expenses and to
confirm the amount. The Council resolution confirming the
expenses should end with a directive to the City Clerk to
file a statement of expense for the purpose of securing a
lien on the property.
