Hamm Brewing Co. for a permit to install an oversize driveway on the north side of Bush Ave. between Walsh and Greenbrier. The property is described as Lots 4 thru 9,inclusive, Block 51, Arlington Hills Add. The zoning is Heavy Industry. This property is presently used for a loading and unloading area with a loading dock running in an east -west direction parallel to and set back some 60 ft. from Bush Ave. Applicant proposes to widen an exist- ing driveway to 160 ft. This driveway, if granted, will provide suffi- cient width to load and unload 10 trucks simultanelously. Field investi- gation discloses no objection to applicant's plans from the standpoint of adjacent land use or traffic. The Dept. of Public Works including the Traffic Engineer have approved the proposed layout and operation. The adjacent land uses are as follows: R/R right -of -way to the north, employees parking lot adjoining the site on the east, Hamm's Special Order Bldg. is across Greenbrier to the west and the Hamm's Bottling House is across Bush Ave. to the north. The Zoning Board finds that the proposed development is proper for this area and therefore recommend that this permit be granted in accordance with the applicant's plans approved Dec. 5, 1957. 11 CDL :RJK "I (J Sinfiere , C. November 27, 1957 To the Honorable, the Mayor and the Members of the Council of the City of Saint Paul Saint Paul 1, Minnesota Gentlemen: Application is hereby made by the undersigned for the right, authority and permission to construct on the north side of Fauquier Street, be- tween Walsh and Reany Streets, a concrete ramp designed to serve the undersigned's new can unloading dock. Submitted herewith are five copies of drawing, dated November 20, 1957, drawn to the respective scales therein specified and setting forth with particularity what the undersigned proposes and seeks the right to do in connection with the construction of said ramp. As in said drawing set forth, the existing hydrant will be moved from its present location to the location designa- ted therein, sidewalk and curbs removed, existing catch basin protected and the said hydrant also protected with steel posts and rail, all as pro- vided for. There is very little, if any, travel by the public along Fauquier Street at or near the location specified and here involved, and the ramp is de- signed to be used for delivering cans directly to the line, the procedure to be followed being delivery to the line in trailers of the cans, the de- taching of the trailers from the trucks, and the parking for a brief per- iod of such trailers. Said proposed ramp is urgently needed in order that the undersigned's operations may be carried forward efficiently and expeditiously, and demands made upon the undersigned be properly met.
