Whereas, It is necessary to have
WHEREAS, It is necessary to have spedially trained men to act as golf pro-
fessionals at the Como, Highland and PIalen golf courses respectively, and
WHEREAS, Such special training requires:
1. Ability to repair golf clubs and advise in their use.
2. Abilityto oversee and regulate the playing upon an assigned course,
3. Ability to advise in connection with the construction and maintenance
of fairways and bunkers.
�. Ability to organize, train and direct caddies.
5. Experience in professional golf work and in teaching golf; and
WHEREAS, Frank Fiorito, Winton Christianson and C. V. Anderson, possess
the required ability and have the required training, and the said Frank Fiorito, ;vnton
Christianson and C. V. Anderson are willing to enter into a contract with the City
of Saint Paul to act as gola professionals at the Como, Highland and Phalen courses
respectively for the season of 1958, beginning April 1, 1958, and ending October 31,
1958, on the basis of $l, 500. 00 each respectively for said period, plus the privilege
of retaining receipts for teaching and the sale and repair of golf equipment, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings has
recommended that a contract be entered into with the said Frank Fiorito, Winton
Christianson. and C. V. Anderson upon the aforesaid basis, excepting only that the contract
may be cancelled by the Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buidlings at any
time upon. twenty -four hours written notice to the respective golf provessionals, of the
fact that he so cancels the contract; ;therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council concurs in the recommendation of the Commiss oner
of ?arks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings, and the Corporation Counsel is hereby
authorized to draw the contract therefor and the proper City officers are authorized to
execute the same on behalf of the City.
