WHEREAS, the City Architect has requested the City Council to hold a public hearing to consider any complaints about the expense incurred by the City of Saint Paul in removing a dangerous structure at 937 Hazelwood Avenue, more particularly described as the South One -half of Lots 23 and 24, Block 1, Brokmeier's Subdivision of Lots 6 and 7, Cruickshank's Garden Lots, City of Saint Paul, and WHEREAS, it appears that the last known record owners of the property are Maggi Jeski, 471 Broadway, Apartment 15, Saint Paul 1, and Francis E. and Catherine E. Taylor, 937. Hazelwood Avenue, Saint Paul 6, copes of proceedings herein having been sent to the Attorney General of the State of Minnesota, 107 State Capitol, Saint Paul 2, Commissioner of Taxation, 209 State Office Byilding Saint Paul 2, Leonard Seamer, Land Commissioner's ffice, 286 City Hall, Saint Paul 2, and mss. D. D. DeCourcy, 113-City Hall, Saint Paul 2; therefore be it RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul hold a public hearing in the Council Chamber at ten o'clock A. M. on the 27th day of December 1957, to consider any complaints about the expense incurred by the City of Saint Paul and to confirm the amount thereof; be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Architect notify by mail the record owners of the property in question at the last known addresses, as well as the other,parties above mentioned. SCHROEDER City Architect A statement of expense has been filed with the City Clerk on this date for the purpose of creating a lien on the property known as 937 Hazelwood Avenue, St. Paul, described as South 1/2 of Lots 23 and 24, Bloch 1, Brokmeier's Subdivision of Lots 6 and 7, Block 1, Cruickshank's Garden Lots, City of St. Paul. This property is owned by Maggi Jeski, 471 Broadway, Apt. 15, St. Paul 1 Francis E. & Catherine E. Taylor, 937 Hazelwood Ave., St. Paul 6 Atty- General, State of Minn., 107 State Capitol, St. Paul 2 Commr, of Taxation, 209 State Office Bldg., St. Paul 2 Len Seamer, Land Commr's Office, 286 City Hall, St. Paul 2 Mrs. D. D. DeCourcy, Land Commr , 113 City Hall, St. Paul 2 In this matter, the following resolutions were adopted by the City Council: C. F. 181997, March 19, 1957, published March 23, 1957, set a public hearing at 10 A. M. on April 16, 1957. C. F. 182418, April 23, 1957, published April 27, 1957, ordered the wrecking by and at the separate cost and expense of the Z owner, occupant, or other person in control thereof. C. F. 182868, May 16, 1957, published May 18, 1957, directed the Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds And Public Buildings to enter the premises and wreck and remove the dwelling and do all things therein necessary for the protection of life, limb, and adjoining property. C. F. 183345, adopted June 18, 1957, published June 22, 1957, approved the specifications prepared by the City Arch'tect for the wrecking of this building and authorized the Purc asing Agent to advertise for bids. Hon. Council C. F. 183885, adopted by the Council June 24, 1957, publish- ed July 27, 1957, approved the award of the contract for wrecking to Truck Crane Service Co. for the sum of $275.00 in accordance with specifications and Formal Bid No. 6496. C. F. 185070, adopted November 5, 1957, published November 9, 1957, provided that the wrecking expense of $275.00 and the expenses of the Department of Parks, Playgrounds And Public Buildings in connection with the condemnation in the amount of $50.64, making a total of $325.64 be paid out of Wrecking Condemned Buildings, 31 G 23, and, in the event said sum proves collectible from the owner, same is to be credited to 31 G 23. The building has been satisfactorily wrecked and a Register- ed Bill mailed to the owners. We are requesting that a public hearing with ten days notice be held to consider any complaints about the expenses and to confirm the amount. The Council resolution confirming the expenses should end with a directive to the City Clerk to file a statement of expense for the purpose of securing a lien on the property. Yours truly, Al ed H.
