RESOLVED, that upon appeal of Church of St. Vincent,
from the decision of the Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds
and Public Buildings, there is hereby established a new
building line of 01.411 as the side lot line as it affects
the Virginia Street frontage of the property located on the
west side of VIrginia.Street between Blair Avenue and Lafond
Avenue, also described as Lot 1, Block 24, Lafond's Addition,
all in accordance with statements and conditions corn eyed
in applicant's appeal of September 13, 1957 and development plans
dated dctober 2, 19570

This is in the matter of the appeal of the Church of St. Vincent
to establish a new building line of 01. 4" as the side lot line as
it affects the Virginia street frontage of the property located on
the west side of Virginia street between Blair and Lafond. This
property is described as Lot 1, block 24, Lafond's Addition.
The zoning is "B" residence.
This appeal is occasioned by the plans of the Church of St.
Vincent to construct an addition to the existing church which
will enclose the presently exposed stairways, fire - escape and
entrance. This appeal, if granted, would permit the applicant
to extend the present church easterly an average distance of some
17' with the main structure of the building extended 141.
The Zoning Board finds this added facility would in no way affect
or injure adjoining property and would materially facilitate the
utility and appearance of this building. The Board is also mind-
ful of the general desirability of permitting churches to expand
their services to the community in a manner consistent with the
public interest.
In consideration of these factors, the Zoning Board recommends
that this appeal be granted in this instance all in accordance with
statements and conditions conveyed in applicant's appeal of
September 13, 1957 and development plans dated October 2, 1957.

West side of Virginia Street between Blair and Lafond. The Church;
Rectory and School occupy the entire West side of Virginia Street
in this block. This building line is necessary for an addition to
the present Church building which will house all steps leading from
three floor- levels, correcting ice hazards and definite fire and
panic hazards, especially from the basement hall and from the gallery.
