WAS, the Commissioner of public utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section S3 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from, November 16th to November 30th 1957 inc..*
which *endered necessary the ietployment of certain employees of the
Water Department for more than eight **tars per day or forty hours
per week In doing the following works
(1) Repairing telemetering system by Tele.Co. and Water Dept.
electrician
�2j Working extra shifts at Filtration plant and at various stations.
3 Finishing installation of, and repairing water mains and service
connections.
14 Taking emergency calls at Stereyard.
5 Sandbagging sludge fiikld on account of overflew on R/W
(6 Driving country crew to and from work.
AND WIDWAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
1 Necessary to do work during low consumptien hours.
2 Illness of employees on regular shifts.
3 In order to speed completion of jobs.
4 Oughts and Sundays.
5� Necessary to get R/W cleared as quickly as possible.
6 On account of scattered work locations.
TBBRBFQRE., BE IT PJSOLVED.9 that the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay employees who performed such work in accordance
with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, - frdnance No* 6446.
