Resolved, That the proper city offi-
cers are hereby authorized ``to pay
certain employes in the Department
of Parks, Playgrounds & Public Build-
ings for extra employment as described
r in the resolution.

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public
Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53
of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency dur-
ing the period from November 1 to 15, 195T, which
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees
of the Department of Parks, Playgrounds and Public
Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty
hours per week in doing the following work:;
Supervision, operation, maintenance, care
and protection of public paf+ks and play-
grounds and of their facilities.
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the follow-
ing facts and circumstances:
Seasonal requirements for protection of public
property and pursuit of departmental activ-
ities, such as; Municipal athletics and
sports and various other recreation pro-
grams; sanding slippery parkways and boule-
vards and park walks and streets; firing
boilers for the Greenhouse and Zoo; any or
all of which may demand week -end attention.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers
are hereby.authorized to pay the employees Two per-
formed such work in accordance with the provisions
of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
