Winkel 1-8,4891 FILENCIL NO TF October 16, 1957 WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from October 1 to October 15, 1957 which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per days or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair Dispatching men for emergency repair work Dispatching motor vehicles for allemergency work Operating equipment on emergency repair work Emergency calls for sewer maintenance Removing debris from city streets Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays Emergency garbage pickup Taking care of complaints at city yards Drawing plans & specifications for grading & Servicing municipal equipment Mimeographing grade profiles & revising house Making up sidewalk assessment Inspecting city improvement jobs Completing payroll work Councif,File No. 184899 -By Adrian P. (October .19, 1957) - paving jobs numbers And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping city streets free from debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously, picking up garbage, taking complaint at city yards, completing plans & specifications for grading & paving.jobs, need for grade profiles and house numbers, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping city equipment in good running condition, inspecting work done by contractors on street & sidewalk work, and completing payroll work. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
