Initiating Pro6lem, Issues, Opportunity (Who, What, When, Where, Why): Roberts sued the City of St. Paul and Kurt Larson for negligence. Kurt Larson ian a red light and struck the vehicle dnven by Roberts. Roberts' vehicle was totaled and paid for by the City at the claims stage. Roberts ckaimed permanent neck and back injuries and continues to treat for those injuries today. Her past medical bills exceed $20,000 and she anticipates incutting another $10,000 in expenses this year related to her injuries. All of her medical bills are outstanding. Advantages If Approved: The City would avoid the costs and risks of trial. Settlement of this suit limits the City's exposure for all of her medical expenses, as wel] as pain and suffering damages, in which ajury could award. DisadvantagesifApproved: None.
