September 24, 1957 Mr. Joseph Okoneski City Clerk Building Dear Sir: This is in the matter of the application of W. L. Walsh for a permit to install and operate a customer parking lot on the rear of the property adjacent to the southeast corner of W. Seventh & Chestnut. This property is described as the southerly 58 ft. of Lots 10 & 11, Block 26, Rice and Irvine's Addition. The property is zoned Commercial and Light Industry. The parking area edjoins the rear of stores located on the south side'of W. Seventh St. and will be used by the customers of the Seven Corners Hardware. The parking area has a frontage of approximately 58 ft. on Chestnut and extends easterly some 120 ft. The plans filed Sept. 4, 1957 meet existing standards and have been approved by thb Traffic Engineer. Field investigation discloses no objection from the standpoint of adjacent land use. The Department of Public Works in approving the proposed plan is permitting the applicant to construct the proposed driveway on Chestnut in such a manner so as to encourage the flow of water to the gutter. If.this does not prevent water from running down the sidewalk, due to the steep grade on Chestnut, it will be necessary for the applicant to install a catch basin on his property, The applicant has agreed to this condition. In consideration of these factors, the Zoning Board recommends this permit be granted in accordance with the applicant's Mans filed Sept. 4, 1957 and subject to the approval of the Commissioner of Public Works as to the method of handling the water runoff into the sidewalk and street areas on Chestnut.
