An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, entitled:
"An ordinance fixing the duties and responsi-
bilities and the minimum qualifications for the various
classes of positions in the: Classified Service of the City,
approved February 13, 1935, as amended.
THE; COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13,
1935, as amended, be and, the same is hereby further amended by striking
out the specifications for Office. Engineer and substituting in lieu thereof
the following:

Duties and responsibilities:
Under direction, to be responsible for the maintenance of all
engineering records in the Department of Public 'Works; to
perform professional work in connection with the preparation
of plats, proceedings and ordinances, and to perform related
work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:

To be responsible for maintaining all engineering records of the
Department of, Public Works, such as standard and special maps,„
street profiles and addition plats.
To supervise the preparation of, and to prepare, plats and proceedings
for opening, widening and extending orders, subject to the approval
of the Assistant Chief Engineer.
To prepare ordinances granted through the Department of Public Works,
subject to the approval of the Corporation Counsel.
To supervise the preparation of vacation plats and the correcting of
standard maps and all vacation and dedication proceedings.
To be responsible for the filing of maps and plats and the keeping of
indices.
To ,prepare the annual public works report.
To supervise the preparation o£, and to prepare, plans and specifica-
tions for construction work. -
To supervise the work of engineering clerks.
To do research work in connection with engineering problems.
Minimum qualifications: -�
College graduation in engineering and six years' professional
engineering experience. Must be a registered professional
engineer and a registered land surveyor in the State of Minnesota.
