W$EREAS, The Commissioner of Public Safety has reported, in
accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence
of an emergency during the period from September 1, 1957 to
September 30, 1957, which rendered necessary the employment
of certain employees of the Department of Public Safety for
more than eight -hours per day, or forty hours per week, in
doing the following work:
Maintenance work in the Bureau of Building Mainten-
ance, and W1iEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the fol-
lowing fiacts and circumstances:
To replace employees on sick leave ,
T$EREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the proper city officers are
hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such
work in accordance with the provision of the.Council's Salary
