Holland — Resolved, That the proper city offi- , cers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department' of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings for extra employment as i described in. the resolution. Adopted by � the Council September 19, 1957. Approved September 19, 1957. (September 21, 1957) WHEREAS, The Comn.ssioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from September 1 to 15, 1957, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Supervision,' operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and play- grounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities, such as: Municipal golf, athletics and sports; the many facilities for public picnics; the Zoo, Greenhouse and parks refectories; all of which have heavier patronage on weekends. Also, special programs at parks and playgrounds requiring evening and weekend service, and emergency tree trimming.
