WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with
Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during
the period from November l to 15, 1958, which rendered necessary the
employment of certain employees of the Department.•of Public Works for
more than eight hours per day or forty hours per;week in doing the
following work:

Dispatching men for emergency repair work cers are hereby authorized to pay;

of Public Works for extra employment s
Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work as described in the resolution.

Emergency calls for sewer maintenance (November 22, 1958)
Removing debris from city streets
Tending fires at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays
Taking care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans &specifications for grading•jobs
Mimeographing grade profiles etc.
Servicing municipal equipment
Making up sidewalk assessments
Inspecting local improvement jobs
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls,•keeping city streets
free from debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously, taking
complaints at city yards, completing plans for grading jobs, need for
grade profiles, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping city equipment
in good running condition, inspecting work done by contractors on street
and sidewalk work.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby authorized
to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the
provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
