WHEREAS, on he 19th day of October, 958, William
Gydesen, of 1093 Smith Avenue, having attained the age of . f ifty-
nine years, was summoned from this life; and whereas William
Gydesen had given over forty years of his life to work in the
labor movement in the City of Saint Paul and the State of
Minnesota, his contributions and achievements including
offices of president and business agent in the Milk Drivers
Union, the office of international representative of the
Retail Clerks Union, a past,president and organizer of the
Trades and Labor Assembly, and at his death an advertising
representative. for the Union Advocate and a vice - president
of the A. F. L. -C: I. O. State Federation; and, in addition
to acquitting himself with distinction in all of these and
other assignments within the labor movement, William Gydesen
-served on many civic and charitable committees, notable among
which were his works in connection with the March of Dimes,
the Red Cross, the. Community Chest, and his work as a board
member of Riverview Memorial Hospital and of K. T. C. A.
educational television; and
WHEREAS, the death of William Gydesen has been a
loss to the labor movement in the City of Saint Paul and the
State of Minnesota, and whereas his family has lost a loving
husband and father and the citizens of .Saint Paul have lost
a trusted friend and associate, and whereas he has left filled
with a sense of their loss, his wife, Lola Gydesen, his son
William Junior and his daughter Shirley, and two brothers,
Henry C..Gydesen and Louis C. Gydesen, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of .Saint Paul
hereby extends its sympathy and condolence to the said surviving
widow, children and brothers of the decedent; and be it
FURTHER.RESOLVED, That the City Clerk is hereby authorized
and directed to cause an engrossed copy of this resolution to be
prepared and delivered to Lola Gydesen with all convenient speed.
