. WHEREAS, on August 14, 1958, the,Council of the City of
Saint Paul adopted a motion to continue its contribution to the
Teachers" Retirement Fund in an amount equal to 8 per cent of that
part of the teachers" salaries to be taken into account in computing
the amount of members" dues as provided for by the by -laws of the
Teacherst Retirement Fund Association; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the aforementioned 8 per cent, the
motion adopted provided that the Council would supplement the con-
tribution from the City for the coming year of 1959 by an amount of
$90,992.00, this being equivalent to an additional 1 per cent
increase in the Cityes matching contribution; and
WHEREAS, at the present time�the by -laws of the•Teachexsx
Retirement Fund Association have not been amended to provide for
such additional 1 per cent for the year 1959, but it is contemplated
that the necessary amendment to permit such additional amount will
be adopted by the Teachers'' Retirement Fund Association and approval
thereof by the City Council obtained before taxes to be collected for
the ensuing year are'spread of record, now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does
hereby determine that it will continue the City "s contribution at
the aforementioned rate of 8 per cent of the total payroll with
respect to that part of the teachers" salaries to be taken into
account in computing the members" dues; be it
FURTHER RESOLVED,'that the City "s contribution, in addition
to the aforementioned 8 per cent will be increased by the afore-
mentioned $90,. 992.00, or an additional 1 per cent increase in the
City "s matching contribution for the year 1959 only, this additional
amount, however, being conditioned upon the passage of an appro-
priate amendment to the by -laws of the Teacherst::Retirement Fund
Association and the requisite approval thereof by the City Council,
which amendment to the by -laws and approval by the Council are
required to authorize the aforementioned additional 1 per cant;; be it
