DeCourcy, by request= Resolved, That the proper city offi- cersK -are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Public Utilities for extra employ - ment as described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council September 16, 1958. Approved September 16, -1958. (September 20, 1958) WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from September 1, 1958 to September 15, 1958 inclusive which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Utilities for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the follow- ing work: Supervising the activities of the City Market, Making emergency repairs to street lighting circuits, Checking bus schedules and loadings, and Making concrete block tests, and WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circum- stances: Saturday and holiday work made necessary because of increased activity at the City Market, Overtime night work required to restore street lighting service immediately for public safety, Submission by the Street Railway Companydxof proposed schedule changes, and Completion of tests requiring continuous attention, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized topay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the pro- visions of the Council's Salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
