WHEREAS9 The City Clerk has reported, in accordance with Section
53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from Sept. 2nd. to Sept. 12th, which
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees
of the City Clerkts Office for more than eight hours per
day or forty hours per week in doing the following work:
_ Preparing for the election of September 9th, 1958-
AND 1MREAS9 This emergency arose by reason of the following facts
and circumstances:
The office was open three nights until 9:00 o'clock
P.M. for instruction meetings for election judges
and for judges to pick up supplies before the election.
The office was open from 6:00 o'clock A. M. Sept. 9th.
to 1:00 o'clock A.M. Sept. 10th to answer trouble calls
from judges and to accept returns and supplies from
judges after the polls closed.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinances
