WHEREAS,1 °the Ramsey County Welfare Board, at its meeting
on Tuesday, May 13, 1958, by unanimous vote, did recommend
the appointment of Miss Ruth L. Bowman as Executive Secretary
at a salary of $12,500.00 per year, subject to the approval
of the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, the Board of
County Commissioners of the County.of Ramsey, and the State
Merit System;now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED,, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul
does 'hereby concur in said recommendation and approve the
appointment of Ruth L. Bowman as Executive Secretary of
the Ramsey County Welfare Board at an annual salary of
$12,500.00 per year, subject to the further approval of the
Board of County Commissioners of the County of Ramsey, State
of Minnesota,'and the State Merit System.

The Ramsex t its regular meeting held Tuesday,
May 13, y unanimous vote, recommended the appointment of Miss Ruth L.
Bowman as its executive secretary subject to the approval of your body,
the County Board and the State Merit System.
This action was taken only after most serious study, consideration
of countless factors and a thorough investigation. Yamy prospective ap-
plicants were interviewed, some from this area and others from outside
the State.
Miss Bowman has been ably serving as assistant executive secretary
since September 1, 1957,
The Board feels that the interests of the City of St. Paul and the
County of Ramsey will be best served and the public welfare and assistance
program most satisfactorily implemented by appointing Miss Bowman to this
position.
The Board further recommends for your approval that the salary of the
executive secretary of the Welfare Board be established at x$12,500 per year.
We sincerely hope that the confidence you have placed in us by appoint-
ing us to the Welfare Board merits your concurrence in these recommendations.
