or trimming certain size trees in the City of Saint Paul,

of the public peace, health and safety.
THE'COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or
o fell, cut or trim any tree, for hire, within the
City of Saint Paul, or to etigage in the business
without first having obtained a license from the

Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation desiring to so
engage in the business of doing such work for hire shall make
application for a license to--the City License Inspector, which
application shall state the name and address of the applicant,
whether the applicant is an individual, partnership, firm or
corporation, the number, make and style of wagons, trucks or
vehicles to be'used by the applicant in carrying on the business
of tree trimmer, and such application shall be accompanied with
receipt of the City Clerk for the license fees hereinafter provided -.
Section 3-. No license or renewal thereof shall be granted
unless and until the applicant therefor shall first have filed
with the City License Inspector a policy of insurance issued by
an insurance company authorized to do business in the State of
Minnesota, subject to approval by the Corporation Counsel, insuring
said applicant in a sum of at least $10,000.00 against liability
imposed by law on account of bodily injuries or death of any
person or persons not covered by Workments Compensation Law, and
in a sum of at least $5,000.00 against liability imposed by law
on account of damage to, ox destruction of property, in connection
with or by reason of the felling, cutting or trimming of trees
for hire, if such license be granted. Said policy shall provide
that it may not be cancelled by the insurer except upon ten days
written notice tothe City License Inspector, and in case such
insurance is so cancelled and the licensee shall fail to replace
the same with another policy conforming to the provisions of this
ordinance, said license shall be automatically suspended until
such insurance shall have been replaced in accordance with the
provisions of this ordinance.
Section 4. The City License Inspector shall keep a register
of each license issued, the number thereof; the name of the person,
firm, association or corporation to whom the same is issued, the

enforcement of this ordinance. At the time a license is issued
the applicant shall be furnished with two metal plates for
each wagon or vehicle licensed;: such plates to show thereon
a number, the name of the city, the year when the license
expires, and the words "Tree Trimmer ". The applicant shall attach
such metal plates in a conspicuous position on the outside of each
and all of such wag ns and vehicles, one on the right outer side
and one on the lef outer side thereof. All such plates so
required shall be rocured and issued by and through the office
of the City Clerk, and the licensee shall pay therefor the sum
of Five- Dollars ($5.00) for each pair of such plates in excess
of the first pair.
Section 5. The license fee herein provided fox shall be
Twenty -five Dollars ($25.00)per annum, and the license shall
expires on the 31st day of December of each year.
Section 6. This ordinance shall apply only to the felling,
b cutting,,ox trimmingyof trees, limbs and branches which are two
inches, or more, in--diameter.-at the._ point of.-cutting-ox severance.
` ^:'Section 7. Any person, firm, association or corporation
violating any of the terms or provisions of this ordinance "shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor.
Section 8,- This ordinance is hereby declared -to be an
emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of
the public peace, health and safety.
Section 9. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force upon its passage, approval and publication.
Section 10. - This ordinance shall be deemed a part of
the Saint Paul Legislative Code, and shall be incorpoxated� therein
and given an appropriate chapter number at the time of the "next
revision of the said Legislative Code.

TREE TRIMMING ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE regulating the business of felling, cutting or trimming
certain size trees in the.City of Minneapolis and providing penalty
for ,violation thereof e
The (City Council of the 'City of Minneapolis do ordain as follows:
Section to It shall be unlawful for.any person, firm, or corporation
to fell, out or trim any tree, for hire, within the limits of the
City of Minneapolis, or engage in the business of so doing, without
first having obtained, a license from the City Council so to do, and I`' `'l,_
having then and there in full force and effect a good and sufficient

Section 2. Any person desiring to so engage in the business of�do -

Section 7a Any person violating any provisions of this ordinance.
.shall, upon conviction thereof in the Municipal Court, be punished..
by a fine not.. to exceed $100,00 or by imprisonment in the City Work'-
house for not to exceed 90 days.
Section S. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its publication,
