Tews Chief Engineer 4 THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL INTER - OFFICE COMMUNICATION may 5.:.958 Commissioner Robert P'.,Peterson Department of Public Safety Public Safety Building St Paul 1, Minnesota My dear Commissioner$ The enclosure is a report of the condition of the alley between Mackabinm Arundel, Thomas and Lafond Avenues. The report of April 15, 1958 as well as a report made on September 27, 1957, indicates that the condition of the alley is such that it constitutes a health hazard by virtue of the fact that there is almost always stagnant water present in a depression in the alley in the rear of 460 -•1480 Lafond Avenue. The only solution is to grade the al•• ley so as to permit proper drainage which will eliminate this nui- sance. _ BLL—s Respectuflly yours c Boris L. Levich Chief Inspector THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL INTER- OFFICE COMMUNICATION z April 15, 1958 To: Boris Levich, Chief Inspector Frame: J. W. Petter, Sanitarian Subject Alley between Mackubin and Arundel and Thomas and Lafond. An inspection was made of this alley on April 14, 1958 and the following conditions founds 10 The alley grade at Arundel and atMackubin is approximately 1JI to 21 higher than the alley grade in the center of the block. 2. Even though the weather has been dry since Easter, chuck holes in the rear of 460 to 480.Lafond still showed moisture and mud,, indicating that these spots receive the run off from the whole length of the alley. Bad low spot also noted in the rear of 493 Thomas. 3. With the present grade of the alley, these low spots can become a health hazzard in wet weather because of the collection of stagnant water in them. 4. It is may opinion that this alley should be graded or low spots properly filled to remove the hazzard of stagnant water collecting in these low °spots: phis condition is the same now, as it was when a report was submitted last year. See complaint #800 dated September 27, 1957. O F F I C E OF CITY CLERK JOSEPH R. OKONESKI City Clerk BUREAU OF RECORDS HAROLD J.
