An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, enti led:

and the minimum qualifications for the various classes of
positions in the Classified Service of the City,"
approved February 13, 1935, as amended. This is an emergency ordinance
rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and
safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL. DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13, 1935,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking out
the specifications for Director of School Cafeterias; and by inserting in
their proper alphabetical order the following specifications for:

Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace,
health and safety.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in'force from
and after the first day of the first payroll period following its passage,
approval and publication.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SCHOOL CAFETERIAS
Duties and responsibilities:
Under direction, to assist the - Director of School Cafeterias in the
operation and maintenance of the cafeterias in the public schools;
and to perform related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To coordinate and supervise the work of various school cafeterias
and the office.
To requisition food, supplies and equipment.
To make up the work schedules.
To plan menus in accordance with good nutrition, Federal school
lunch programs, departmental policies and economical operation.
To supervise financial record keeping and budgeting.
To requisition and place new employees and supervise their training.
To supervise a continuous in- service training program for all
employees.
To make regular field visits to cafeterias to inspect the personnel,
equipment, operation, sanitary conditions and maintenance; to make
recommendations or reports to the Director, and to implement any
necessary corrective measures.
To make studies and to do research and make recommendations
therefrom for efficient operation.
Minimum qualifications:
College graduation with specialization in institutional management,
nutrition or related fields and three years' responsible experience .
in institutional or commercial feeding. {Substitution of experience
for education lacking, as provided for in this ordinance, shall not
-apply to the first two years of college 'education. )

DIRECTOR OF SCHOOL CAFETERIAS
Duties and responsibilities:
Under administrative direction, to have charge of the operation and
maintenance of the cafeterias in the public schools; and to perform
related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To supervise and direct the operation of the cafeterias in compliance.
with the Federal and State regulations and the policies of the School
Board.
To make periodic visits and inspections of all facilities to determine
the effectiveness and efficiency of operation.
To advise subordinates regarding technical problems of operation,
supervision, and nutrition.
-To prepare and present the annual budget. To administer the financial
policies and to be responsible for the control over cafeteria receipts
and expenditures.
To draw up specifications for food purchases and act as advisor to the
Purchasing Agent.
To draw up specifications for equipment and facilities and supervise
the maintenance of same.
To supervise the requisitioning, placement, rating, and training of
all personnel.
To act as consultant to architects in the development of new cafeterias
and remodeling of existing.
To direct and prepare a sanitary program for personnel in cafeterias.
To plan and direct an in- service program for cafeteria personnels
To act as advisor to school officials and the Board of Education rem
garding the- cafeteria program and to maintain good public and
internal 'ielations.
Minimum qualifications:
College graduation with specialization in institutional management,
nutrition, or related fields and five years' responsible experience
in institutional or comrizercial feeding, at leasf three years of
which must have been in a ,supervisory capacity equivalent to
Assistant :Director of School Cafeterias. (Substitution of experience
for education lacking, as provided for in this ordinance, shall not
apply to the first two years of college education. )
