Holland " Resolved, That the proper city officers are hereby iauthorized, to pay certain employes in the Department of 'Parks, extra emp employment as sccr bed in for resolution. Adopted' by the Council May 6, 1958. Approved May 6, 1958. (May 10,•1958) WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds ana Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from April 16 to 30, 1958, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work; Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and playgrounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the follow- ing facts and circumstances; Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities, such as; Spring cleanup in the parks unusually early this year; tree trim- ming for housemover on Sunday and after - hours removal of storm damage to a boulevard tree;, tending heating plant for the Greenhouse and Zoo; emergency plumbing required at Phalen Golf course; heavy week -end patronage at parks refectories and facilities; and rush -time on Playgrounds ball fields and facilities. THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who per- formed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Councills salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
