Resolved, That the proper City of-
ficers are hereby authorized to pay
certain employes in the Water Depart-
ment for extra employment as de-
scribed in the resolution.

WHEREAS the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from April 16th to April 30th 1958 inc., which
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the
Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours
per week in doing the following work:
(1) Making repairs to Filtration Plant equipment.
(2) Working extra shifts at various stations.
(3) Finishing installation of, and repairing water mains and
service connections.
(4) Installing pipe to new pump at Highland station:
(5) Taking emergency calls at Storeyard:
(6) Making repairs to Snelling reservoir, and emergency electrical

7) Driving country crew to and from work.
AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
(1) Necessary to do.work during low consumption hours.
(2) Illness of employees on regular shifts.
(3) In order to give consumers water and fire protection as soon
as possible.

5) Nights and Sundays.,
6) In order to speed completio4of repairs.
7) On account of scattered work locations.
THEREFOREi BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby
authorized.to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance
with provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.6
