PAUL COUNCIL NO. 187083 OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK 'CO UN IL SOLUTION — GENERAL FORM t PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONS DATE WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from April {1 to.April 15, 1958 which rendered necessary the employ- ment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Emergency'street, building, sewer & bridge repairs Dispatching men for emergency repair work Dispatching motor ,vehicles for all emergency work Operating equipment on emergency repair work Emergency calls for sewer maintenance Removing snowand debris from city streets Tending fires at Asphalt Plant Brawing plans for grading & paving jobs Taking complaints at city yards Mimeographing grade profiles Servicing municipal equipment Making up sidewalk assessments Inspecting city improvement jobs Completing payroll, work Council File No. 187083 —By Adrian P. Winkel — Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Public Works for extra employment as described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council April 18, 1958. Approved April 18, 1958. (April 26, 1958) And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping city streets free from .snow and debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously, taking complaints at city yards, completing plans for grading & paving jobs, need for grade profiles, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping City equipment in good running condition, inspecting work done by con- tractors on streeets and sidewalks and completing payroll work. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the pr6visions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
